Summer Library Magic on Zoom!

I had the great pleasure of performing not once, but TWICE for kids in Bridgeport, courtesy of the Public Library! Anna Knorovska, the Children's Librarian there, had contacted me back in June to ask about my virtual programing. Anna had had me out to her Library last year to perform at their big Halloween celebration, so I was excited for the opportunity to connect back with kids virtually, while everyone is still hunkering down during the pandemic.

First up was my virtual, Zoom Magic Show on July 29th. I've done a bunch of these this summer and they're always a ton of fun! But after that we did something that I haven't had the chance to do a lot of - a Zoom Magic Learning Workshop!

​I've done lots of magic learning workshops over the years, but doing them virtually is a new thing for me! But then again, this whole year is a new thing for everyone!

It turned out that doing the magic workshop virtually is a lot like doing it in person. Unfortunately, some of the hands on learning is lost (I can't hand kids decks of cards and boxes of crayons to practice the tricks on their own through the computer), but the benefit of this is that we get to learn more magic!

In fact, this approach was so good that's even got me rethinking how I do my workshops in person. I think there's a lot of value in the hands on approach of giving kids hand on time to practice the tricks with their friends, but I found that the kids really enjoyed getting to learn a wider swath of magic tricks!

In the end, everyone enjoyed themselves and both programs were a huge success for the library. 

As much as I've loved performing these shows, I can't wait to get back to in person entertaining. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed that we get to see each other face to face again in 2021!
