Here's what everyone has to say about Magician Matt Matthews!
A Connecticut Native With Ties To Waterbury
Matt Matthew is a member of the Society of American Magicians, Harry Houdini Assembly 29, in Waterbury Connecticut. The assembly meets monthly at the Waterbury Firefighters Union Hall on Prospect Avenue.
A Connecticut native, Matt has been performing magic since he was a kid. “My dad used to buy me these little magic tricks from a local hobby shop,” Matt says. “He’d buy a new one every week. They were these cheap, little things he’d get off of a spinner rack, but I loved them. For me, the best part was always learning how the trick was done. My dad would teach me the tricks and I just fell in love with the art of magic and have been performing ever since.

A Magician With a Passion For Kids Magic Shows
Matt performs professionally at kids birthday parties and other children’s events around Waterbury. “A lot of people," Matt says, "when they get in to magic, are drawn to either the big stage illusions like you see in Vegas or to the close up, intimate card and coin magic that was popularized on TV by David Blaine and Chris Angel. But for me, I love performing kids show magic. It’s such a different thing that the other types of magic, so a lot of guys who don’t really study the craft don’t understand why the kids aren’t reacting to their fancy card tricks. I specialize in kids magic and it’s what I know best. My job is basically to act like an idiot and keep your kids laughing for 45 minutes straight!"
Where To Host A Party In Waterbury
Many kids' birthday parties are held right in the home. In the summer months you can hold a birthday party in a local park. The City of Waterbury has a simple form on their website to request a permit in these cases.
During colder weather months, if it’s not possible to have the party in your home you can have it in a party hall, like the beautiful Cedars Hall or Aria in neighboring Prospect. Lower cost options include halls at the Franco American Social Club, the Polish American Club in Naugatuck, or the Wolcott Lions Club in Wolcott. Some restaurants will also have a private or semi-private party room. A magic show works best when it's in a private space, but Matt Matthews is adaptable and will work with you where ever your party is held!
